Creating Text from Electronic Documents

Text pages can be automatically created for electronic documents that contain text by retrieving it directly from the electronic file. You can also extract text from PDFs by generating pages and then OCRing those pages. If you are using the Laserfiche Windows client, you can also use Laserfiche Snapshot to create images and text files from the electronic file. (Laserfiche Snapshot is not supported with the Laserfiche web client.)

Note: If an electronic document is indexed but has not had text extracted from it, and if an IFilter for that electronic file type exists on the computer hosting the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Service, the document will be text searchable, but no text will display when you open the electronic document as pages in Laserfiche. We recommend extracting text from such documents if possible, as it will improve search performance.
