Generate Pages from Electronic Documents

You can generate image and text pages from the electronic files associated with electronic documents in one of two ways: PDF electronic documents can have image pages generated natively from the PDF file (this method can retain PDF annotations) or you can generate pages from any type of document (including, but not limited to, PDF files) by processing them with ClosedLaserfiche Snapshot.

Laserfiche Snapshot is a utility that generates an image and a text file for each page in an electronic file. These images and text files are then stored as pages in a Laserfiche document. Generating images and text files with Snapshot enables users to search and view the contents of electronic documents, even if they do not have the Windows applications needed to open the electronic files.

Important: Using Snapshot on documents already in Laserfiche is only supported with the Laserfiche Windows client. Snapshot cannot be used in this way with the Laserfiche web client. However, using Snapshot as a printer outside of the repository can be used on any computer on which Snapshot is installed, regardless of whether the Client is also installed. In addition, pages generated by Snapshot can be viewed using the Laserfiche web client.
