Removing Fields and Templates
You can remove fields and templates from an entry (document or folder) in the Fields tab of the Metadata dialog box, or in the Fields tab of the Metadata Pane in the document viewer.
Warning: When you remove a template and/or fields, the field values will be permanently removed as soon as you save the entry. If the entry is a document and version tracking has been enabled, you can retrieve those values from the version history; if version tracking is not enabled, the values will be permanently deleted.
To remove a template from an entry
- Open the Metadata dialog box or Metadata Pane for any entry.
- Select the Fields tab.
- In the Template option, select No template assigned.
- If you are working in the Metadata dialog box, click OK to save your changes. If you are working in the Metadata Pane of the document viewer, save the document to save your changes.
To remove a field from an entry
- Open the Metadata dialog box or Metadata Pane for any entry.
- Select the Fields tab.
- Click Add/Remove Fields.
- Clear the field or fields you want to remove.
- Click OK or Apply.
Note: Fields that are part of the document's template will be selected and greyed out. They can only be removed by removing the template.
