Metadata Dialog Box
The Metadata dialog box provides a centralized location from which you can view
You can also modify document metadata in the Metadata Pane of the document viewer.
Note: The Metadata dialog box may also be displayed automatically when performing certain actions such as document import, scanning, or using Laserfiche Snapshot.
To open the Metadata dialog box in the Windows client
- Open the Laserfiche Windows client and log in as a user with the rights to see the metadata for the entry you want to view.
- Navigate to and select the document or folder for which you want to view metadata.
- Perform one of the following:
- Open the Tasks menu and select View Metadata.
- Right-click the document and select Metadata.
- Click the View Metadata button on the toolbar.
- The Metadata dialog box will open. By default, it will open to the last tab you had open. You can select the Fields tab, the Tags tab, the Links tab, the Versions tab, or the Signatures tab to view a different metadata type. Learn more about the Metadata dialog box.
Note: You can open the Metadata dialog box to a specific metadata tab by selecting View Fields, View Tags, View Document Links, by pointing to Version Tracking and selecting Version History..., or by pointing to Digital Signatures and selecting View Signatures.

To open the Metadata dialog box in the web client
- Open the Laserfiche web client and log in as a user with the rights to see the metadata for the entry you want to view.
- Navigate to and select the document or folder for which you want to view metadata.
- Perform one of the following:
- Right-click the document and select Metadata.
- Click the Details or Fields tabs in the right pane.
