Working With the Cursor
The cursor determines what will take place when you perform an action with the mouse; the type of actions that can be performed depend on the active pane and the current cursor mode.
Example: An image can be zoomed, panned, and annotated, while text can be annotated and modified.
The types of modes and the pane(s) to which they apply are listed below.
Cursor | Mode | Applicable Panes |
---|---|---|
Highlight | Image and Text | |
Freehand | Image | |
Polygon | Image | |
Redact | Image and Text | |
Text Selection | Text and Fields | |
Line | Image and Text | |
Underline, Strikethrough | Image and Text | |
Zoom | Image | |
Pan | Image | |
Selection | Image, Text, Fields, and Thumbnails | |
Stamp | Image | |
Shapes, Image, Attachment | Image | |
Text Box, Callout Text, | Image | |
Sticky Note | Image |
The cursor can only be set to one mode per pane. This means that if the cursor is currently in Highlight mode and you activate Pan mode, the Highlight mode will no longer be active.
The Text Selection mode differs from the other modes in that it does not apply to the Image Pane, which means that the Text Selection mode can be activated at the same time as Selection, Pan, Zoom, Stamp, or Sticky Note mode. However, activating Highlight or Redact mode will toggle Text Selection mode off.
Note: Text Selection mode is always used when working with field data.
