Activities

Workflow activities are single, pre-built, configurable processes. They are the building blocks of workflow definitions. Workflow in process automation has over 40 activities that perform a variety of functions. This page lists the workflow activities in process automation and a description of their functions. Add Text Box Adds a text box to a page of a Laserfiche document.
Apply Stamp Adds a stamp to a page of a Laserfiche document.
Apply Text Annotation Adds a text annotation on an entry.
Assign Field Values Assigns a template and field value to a Laserfiche entry.
Assign Rights Assigns or removes Entry Access Rights associated with an entry.
Assign Tags Adds a tag to or removes one from an entry.
Assign Token Values Creates new tokens and updates the values of existing tokens.
Attach Electronic Document Attaches an electronic document to a Laserfiche document.
Change Starting Entry Changes the starting entry or updates tokens to reflect the entry’s current name and path.
Conditional Decision Runs the first branch that has its conditions satisfied.
Conditional Parallel Runs all branches that have satisfied conditions.
Conditional Sequence Runs a set of activities if the conditions for the set are satisfied.
Copy Metadata Copies metadata from one entry to another.
Create Entry Creates an entry that can be accessed with another activity in the workflow.
Create Link Creates a document relationship link between two or more Laserfiche entries.
Date Token Calculator Creates custom date and time tokens.
Deadline Defines one route for an entry before a deadline, another for after the deadline.
Delay Delays part or all of a workflow from running.
Delete Annotation Deletes an annotation added by an Add Sticky Note, Add Text Box, or Apply Stamp activity.
Delete Entry Deletes an entry.
Delete Links Removes the document relationship link between two or more Laserfiche entries.
Delete Shortcuts Deletes all shortcuts linking to a specified entry.
Download Electronic Document Downloads the electronic file associated with an electronic document.
Email Sends an email notification with an attachment.
End Workflow Ends a workflow instance before the workflow ending point.
Escalation Defines the default action for the workflow and additional actions that run in parallel when the wait period is met.
Find Entries Finds entries in a folder and makes those entries available to other activities in your workflow definition.
Find Entry Finds an entry using its ID or location and makes it available to other activities in your workflow definition.
For Each Entry Runs the contained activities on each entry in a collection of entries.
For Each Row Runs the contained activities on each row of a table from specified Laserfiche entries.
For Each Value Runs the contained activities using each specified token value.
Invoke Bot Makes use of robotic process automation technology to start a bot.
Invoke Business Process Provides the ability to start a Business Process.
Invoke Workflow Provides the ability to start another workflow.
Move Entry Moves, copies, or creates a shortcut to an entry.
Move Pages Moves or copies pages between two documents or within the same document.
Parallel Runs all branches at once, without using conditions.
Pattern Matching Creates custom tokens using regular expressions that look for information that follows a specific pattern.
Read Barcode Reads the barcodes on a single entry.
Rename Entry Renames an entry.
Repeat Repeats the activities inside this activity as long as the conditions are satisfied.
Replace Lookup Table Data Replaces the data in a lookup table based on a spreadsheet (.csv or .xlsx).
Rethrow Rethrows the error from the catch branch in a Try-Catch activity.
Retrieve Document Text Retrieves existing text from a Laserfiche or electronic document and stores it in a token.
Retrieve Field Values Gets the template name and field values from an entry and returns tokens for those values.
Retrieve Shortcuts Collects all the shortcuts linking to a specified entry.
Run Application Action Creates, deletes, or retrieves data from an integrated external system.
Run Capture Profile Extracts text from an image document using a capture profile.
Run Rule Runs a rule in your workflow definition.
Run Script Rule Runs a script rule in your workflow definition.
Run Web Request Rule Runs a web request rule in your workflow definition.
Search Repository Searches the repository for entries based on user-defined criteria.
Sequence Performs the contained activities in top-down order.
Set Entry Owner Makes a user an entry's owner or removes an owner from an entry.
Set Records Management Properties Set properties on individual records or record folders such as cutting off a record and setting a filing date.
Token Calculator Uses standard arithmetic operations to create custom tokens.
Track Tokens Records the values of specified tokens when this activity runs.
Try-Catch Prevents a workflow from terminating if an activity encounters an error.
Update Word Document Performs a series of modifications on a Microsoft Word document.
Wait for Entry Change Pauses the workflow until a specified condition is satisfied.
